We have just updated our network of data collection sites with a more structured UK County List and thought it would only be fair to share it with our readers. Thornton Consultancy’s core business is lead generation for a whole host of companies - ranging from small one man operations through to multi-national bluechips, through PPC, Affiliate Marketing and Email Marketing. Generating leads isn’t the problem, getting them distributed properly is!

As the agreements we have in place with 90% of our clients are profit share based as a pose to pay-per-lead it is in our interests to manage the leads we generate through the sales stages, from lead generation to sales creation - to maximize the profits for ourselves, the client and the lead source ie; Affiliates.

As a rule of thumb if we can’t have 100% transparency on our clients systems that allow us to see what is being done with the leads we provide them in real time we will not work with that client, of course there are the ’special’ clients that send us daily / weekly / monthly reports on leads and we understand that this is the only way they can as they don’t have an integrated CRM or work offline - but we only take on these clients after an ethical code of conduct is drawn up and signed by the clients.

In order for leads to be distributed efficiently between a sales team certain things should be adhered to;

  • Make sure you only book in the amount of leads you can take - it is better to take less leads and deal with the properly than take more than you should and let your sales team pitch to the half heartedly because they are over-run.
  • You should NEVER let your sales team Cherry Pick leads - all leads should be treated the same.
  • When setting up a campaign make sure you are acquiring ALL the data that you need - obviously lead to sale conversions will be much higher if your lead data is perfect and has the information your sales team need.
  • Make sure you offer your lead source complete reporting - offering transparent, simple reporting you will instill confidence in your lead source which will in turn results in a better campaign for YOU and more conversions for your sales team.

I could go on with the list but in my opinion the above pointers are the most important - If you want to increase your online sales channel and build a strong relationship with your lead source(s).
